ALUMNI MEETING
Twenty- four alumni were present for the third Louverture Cleary Alumni meeting on August 7. Participants discussed ways graduates could continue to work for the philosophy of the school by providing support for students as they graduate. Four new Alumni officers were elected: president, Saint-Louis Parnel; vice-president, Augustin Elda; secretary; Durandisse Elsie and treasuere Lofficial Michelet. An Alumni constitution is now in the works to formalize the goals of the group, which will assist them in acting on their continuing devotion to Louverture Cleary.

TEACHER DIGS IN
Brown University junior, Devin McIntyre, arrived for three weeks this August to teach one week literature classes to the upper lever students. In addition to teaching, Devin has assumed other volunteer duties such as working in the garden, digging holes, and laughing at the Director's jokes. Says Devin, it's been a rewarding experience. The dedication and motivation of everyone involved in the project, both students and administrators, is inspiring. This school isn't just making better students, it's making better people."

LEMON IN THE RAIN
Louverture Cleary now has its own luge team! During a ride back from Petionville the school truck which was carrying the Moynihan family, the four Foyer students and volunteers Devin McIntyre and Kate Kowalski developed a fuel injector problem and stopped running. Spirits stayed high, however, even though the truck had to be pushed home over two miles through a heavy rain. Songs sung as loud as possible kept people pushing, in addition to the occasional chant of "Li citron, li pa bon!"; in Kreyol, "This lemon of a car is no good!"
