Teachers Taught Before They Teach:

As is the tradition in the US, teachers at LCS return to school before the students to prepare for the new year. LCS is blessed That’s with a talented faculty who willingly give of their time to enhance their own skills as teachers. This year the teacher in-service week focused on several topics which have relevance for both teachers and students alike. Teachers learned the biochemical factors which create stress, discussed things which cause stress and learned methods to deal with stress for themselves and their students. Another day focused on leadership in the classroom and how to develop good student leaders. All teachers agreed the new year will be one of the best at LCS.

Kids to Kids:

Music and dance flooded the old Cercle Bellevue membership club in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on May 24. Over 200 teenagers from Quisqueya Christian and other surrounding schools grooved to the beats of Patrick Brun’s (THP Board Member) son Michael’s deejay styles. The dance raised $700, which was delivered by the teenagers at graduation, June 7. “[The teenagers] crossed the communication line to address Louverturians, kids to kids,” said Brun. Thanks to Lucien, Gilda and Derrick Rousseau, William and Maude Eliacin, René and Maude Léger, Werner Hirsch and all the parents for their encouragement and contributions to make the dance a success!
