It is All in The Swing

I have had many opportunities to point out how something I learned earlier in my life (meaning pre-Haiti) is greatly useful in my missionary life. A couple of examples: I was the only Moynihan out of eight to attend private school. Understanding a boarding school from the inside out helps me a lot with running LCS. I owned a diesel vehicle before coming to Haiti and learned how important it is to change the timing belt on time. Today, I am glad that I played rugby at Brown! "Swinging the ball out the line" is the same motion as grabbing the cement bucket and sending it up the line. Thanks, Jay Fluck (my rugby coach) for preparing me well for Haiti.

Sadly, John J. O'Connell, father of Elizabeth O'Connell Cross and enthusiastic THP supporter, passed away on Saturday.  John and his wife Rosemary have been very supportive of our mission. Not only did he instill in Elizabeth an appreciation for education and giving to others, he personally stuffed envelopes and lent a helping hand at events.  He taught the meaning of sacrifice and always put his family (8 children and 20 grandchildren) above all else.

The Fruit of The Tree

I really appreciate the strong following that our Wednesday update has gained.  In appreciation and out of recognition that Wednesday can be a tough day, we try to keep the news as positive as possible in our updates.

But, we also try to communicate the truth of the situation.  Some call this "keeping it real."  I prefer to call it "keeping it authentic."

Here is the reality we are facing currently.  Total donations to the Project today were $30.  Now, I have to admit that this is an uncommonly low amount; however, it is the truth.
